Profile:

Dr Chris Qureshi is a specialist vitreoretinal surgeon with over 13 years’ experience in the field of ophthalmology. He graduated with a double degree in Medical Science and Medicine and Surgery from the University of NSW and went on to complete a Masters in Medicine in Ophthalmic Science at the University of Sydney. His thesis was on the delivery of eye care in rural and remote communities in Australia with a special emphasis on Indigenous Australians. 

Dr Qureshi has completed two vitreoretinal fellowships at Westmead Hospital, Sydney and at the prestigious Oxford University and Oxford Eye Hospital in the UK. At Oxford, he was the senior fellow and trained retinal surgeons from Spain, Cyprus, Malaysia, UK, and Australia. He was exposed to different techniques in the treatment of retinal disease including gene therapy and the bionic eye. He also gained subspecialty training in uveitis and medical retina. 

Dr Qureshi is a senior staff specialist at Westmead Hospital and participates in research and training of registrars, residents, optometrists and medical and optometry students. He enjoys teaching surgeons how to perform advanced cataract surgery and the latest vitreoretinal surgical techniques. His special interests include treatment of the retina and macula such as retinal detachment, macula hole, epiretinal membrane, age related macula degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion and vitreous floaters. 

Dr Qureshi is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and a member of the European Society of Retinal Specialists, American Academy of Ophthalmologists, Australian Society of Ophthalmologists and Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine. His greatest joys are spending time with his family, kayaking, paddle boarding and serving as a volunteer minister of religion.
